High & Dry Bluegrass Festival Overview

The festival is held on the 3rd weekend of August every year. It’s on a 40-acre farm east of Bend, about 6 miles from downtown. The farm is on the east side of the Bend Airport -- not to be confused with the Redmond Airport. The price of admission for the weekend is $15 per person. Camping is $10 per vehicle for the weekend. RV dry-camping and tent camping are available.

We don’t sell advanced tickets. You just show up at the entrance gate and pay for your admission and camping fee. Children 12 years and under are free. We put a wrist band on your wrist that you wear for the weekend. This allows you to go and come as you please all weekend.

You will need to bring your own lawn chairs for the band performances. The main stage is a deck with a pond as a backdrop. We put up shades over the audience area to filter the sunlight.

There is a small stage next to the main stage that we call the “tweener stage”. On the tweener stage, between main stage performances, groups will perform for 15 minutes while the main stage sound equipment is being made ready for the next main stage performance. This entertains the audience while waiting for the next main stage act and gives these newer groups an opportunity to gain experience playing before a live audience.

We have food venders that serve food from lunch through dinner (BBQ, Mexican, vegan Ice cream, coffee, etc…) On Sunday morning you can sing for a free breakfast in the gazebo by the main stage (great breakfast - ham and eggs etc…).

On Saturday morning we have workshops for several levels of playing skills -- for  guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass, harmonica, harmony and maybe ukulele. All workshops teach techniques using the same bluegrass song. When the workshops are done, participants of all the workshops gather at the main stage, form a mega-band, and perform the workshop song for the audience. Great fun!

There are workshops for kids too. A group known as “Chick’s Kids” will be there doing instrument workshops for kids. Kids who attend these workshops will perform on the tweener stage on Sunday.

Great jamming in camping areas all day, all night and all weekend.

The main mission of High & Dry is to provide a low cost acoustic music festival that is affordable for young families to come with their children, have a fun family weekend and expose the children to acoustic music and hopefully get them hook on the music and keep it going for future generations. It also provides good fun for all comers - children or no.
